Having two turntables will allow you to fade between 2 albums in real time. This is something you can do in software, though (record one vinyl song on the computer and fade from that to the turntable audio). If you are only using it at home, 1 turntable is sufficient.

To scratch, you need to get a conical needle cartridge — probably several of them if you do a lot of scratching. When you play vinyl normally use an elliptical needle cartridge. So… buy a turntable with an easily replacealbe cartridge, and one that can stand to be replaced many times.

Also, for scratching, you need a turntable that will allow you to move the table manually without hurting the motor or rubber inside. A direct-drive motor would be the best for this.

There’s nothing wrong with using a USB turntable if all you want to do is record digitally,
If you want to mix and record vinyl in analog, USB won’t work.
