How to tune alpine 4 channel amp and crossovers for tweeters?

Alex S asked:

I think I have too much power running to my speakers from my amp. I have 6.5″ component alpine type R in front and 6×9 type R in back. my amp is the alpine f600. dont know the best settings for this.
also one of my tweeters sounds pretty bad and im not sure why?

I don’t know the power level of the amp and am too lazy to look it up now… crossovers are needed for the tweeters, don’t over power the tweeters. rms is the goal power not peak.

To tune your amplifier you should…
    1) center the bass and treble on your radio.
    2) leave the crossovers off
    3) turn the gain all the way down on your amplifier
    4) turn the volume on the radio to 3/4 of the full volume
    5) adjust the gains on the amplifier to the max point that the speakers still sound clear and undistorted

Note: The gains for the rear should be lower then the gains for the front because the 6X9′s will have a higher sensitivity.

As far as the tweeter is concerned you should check the crossover that came with it and make sure its wired correctly.
