How can I fix a car CD player that keeps skipping, without using a laser cleaner CD?

This is just a guess, but is it cold where you are? I had a problem with one in very cold weather because the shock dampening system contained fluid and it didn’t work well in the winter.
try to rebalance the player it might have got knocked out of whack
if thats not it try cleaning cd’s
