Do I only need an AUX cable to play music from my cassette deck to my speakers?

andy c asked:

I have this docking station that only has an AUX input and I was wondering if I could connect the AUX cable from my cassette deck to my docking station to listen to music. I tried this already and I didn’t hear anything, but I could tell the speakers were on. Are there any other necessary cables I need such as AV cables for this to work?

That should have worked, if you connect the “Play” output of your cassette deck to the “Aux” input on your docking station. You shouldn’t need any other cables. Could it be that the “Aux” connection on the deck is an input, not an output?
